The faculty of Mar Baselios College of Nursing believes that:

Nursing is a noble profession. It is both science and an art. As a science it is based on systematized body of knowledge continually evolving with progress in science. A nurse applies this knowledge in a personalized way by delivering care artfully with compassion, caring and respect for each clients dignity. A well trained and competent nurse integrates the art and science of nursing into practice. This makes the quality of her care at a level of excellence which is most beneficial to clients and their families.

It is the unique function of the nurse to assist the individual sick or well in performance of those activities contributing to health or its recovery or to a period of peaceful death, that he would perform unaided if he had the necessary strength, will or knowledge.

Nursing is much more than simply a collection of specific skills and a nurse is not just simple a person trained to perform specific tasks. It is a profession, which lays considerable emphasis on ethics. A nurse is a professional devoted to the promotion of human and social welfare ethically.

Nursing is a protection, promotion and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human responses, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families and communities and populations. 

Health is a state of complete physical, mental, social and spiritual well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. To attain this self-realization and spiritual development are considered as the aims of education. The object of education is the realization of a faithful, pure, inviolable and hence holy life.

Education should lead and guide man to clearness concerning him and in himself, to face with nature and to unity with God.

Nursing education encompasses this philosophy to the core, it is the professional education for preparation of nurses to enable them to render professional nursing care to people of all ages, in all phases of health and illness, in a variety of settings.

Education for professional nursing practice includes a sound theoretical knowledge base to support experimental learning faculty believes the educational process facilities continuing personal and professional growth in which the responsibility for outcomes is mutually shared by students and faculty.
