For the 3rd & 4th batch students of Mar Baselios College of Nursing, the day 2nd October 2012 will go down their memories with an extra feather in its cap. The day witnessed the Lamp Lighting Ceremony of these students, an auspicious moment in every nurse's vocational life. The Chief Guest for the occasion was His Excellency, Shri Shekhar Duttji, Hon. Governer of Chattisgarh. The Chief Guest was welcomed by Guard of honour by the College Band followed by National Anthem.
After a heart-warming invocation song by the students, the ceremonial lamp was lit by the dignitaries - His Excellency, Shri Shekhar Duttji, Hon. Governer of Chattisgarh, His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Jacob Mar Barnabas, the Chairman, Guest of Honour Dn. Ulrich Hugo Hess from Switzerland, Mr. Denice the special Guest, Rev. Fr.Thomas Malancharuvil, Director, & Prof. Mrs. Daisy Thomas, the Principal.
A motivational and inspiring welcome speech by Prof. Mrs. Daisy Thomas ensued, where she sought to remind the students, of contribution of nurses to the society. The end of the speech brought forth the eagerly awaited moment when she lit the auspicious Florence Nightingale lamp & the flame was then passed on by Mrs. Lovely Joseph, Ms. Tisha Oomen, Ms. Anupama A & Ms. Asha Joseph to the students. The candles held in their hands, aglow in the dark, seemed to set ablaze in their hearts the spirit of dedication and love, which echoed out in the Nurses pledge they undertook and in the dedication song that they sang later. The Charge to the students were given by Rev. Fr.Thomas Malancharuvil, Director. The students were also blessed by the words of His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Jacob Mar Barnabas, the Chairman and the Guest of Honour Dn. Ulrich Hugo Hess. The Chief Guest His Excellency Shri Shekhar Duttji in his speech highlighted the importance of Nurses who dispense care, comfort and compassion without even a prescription. He said Its because of this that nursing today is looked up to as one of the noble professions. Nurses today have become the heart of healthcare. Vote of Thanks was proposed by Prof. Mrs.Ranjitha Rajesh. The programme ended with National Anthem.
